Fall Harvest Family Day

 

 

 

 

Let’s celebrate the fall harvest at Bald Hill Farm! Greenbelt Land Trust and the Corvallis Environmental Center invite you to enjoy the beautiful scenery and a host of fun fall activities at Bald Hill Farm.

Come on out for apple pressing and apple cider tasting, guided nature walks for kids of all ages, apple cider donuts, pumpkin decorating, face painting, outdoor games, and more!

We are excited to have When Picks Fly play live, old-time string band music!

This event is free, open to the public, and great for the whole family, so bring your kids and a picnic lunch to enjoy at the Farm.

TRANSPORTATION

** Walking/biking map to the event can be found below.

WALK: Park at Benton County Fairgrounds, Oak Creek Dr. parking lot, or Reservoir Rd. parking lot, and walk to the Bald Hill Farm farmhouse.

BIKE: Bicycle in- it’s a beautiful ride to the Farm!

DRIVE: Free but limited parking is available. Walking and biking are encouraged. Follow event signs along 10 m.p.h farm road. Farm road entrance near: 6780 NW Oak Creek Dr., Corvallis, OR 97330

FOOD/DRINK: Complimentary fresh-pressed apple cider, healthy snacks, and apple cider donuts available. Feel free to bring a picnic lunch and a lawn chair or blanket to sit on.

A Bird’s Eye View: Kids Bird Walk

Let’s celebrate World Migratory Bird Day! Join Greenbelt Land Trust, Chintimini Wildlife Center, and Environment for the Americas for a special kid-friendly bird walk at Bald Hill Farm conservation area. We’ll identify birds, tour a wildlife habitat restoration site created by local 3rd-graders, and learn about the Willamette-Laja partnership that links bird conservation between Oregon and Mexico.  Hands-on activities for kids include stewarding plants for bird habitat and making a bird-themed craft to take home. There will also be special appearances by LIVE Chintimini bird ambassadors! Natural Areas Celebration Week

This event is brought to you by Greenbelt Land Trust, Chintimini Wildlife CenterHike it Baby, and Environment for the Americas. Project partners are Marys River Watershed Council and the Institute for Applied Ecology. This event is part of Natural Areas Celebration Week.

Natural Areas Celebration Week has something for everyone!  Natural resource partners throughout the region join together during this week to highlight their projects and to celebrate the incredible resources in our backyard here in the mid-Valley. From walks to talks, open houses, local food and drinks, and more, you are sure to have a great time!

Stargazing at Fitton Green

Come see one of the most breathtaking panoramic views in Benton County! Join Benton County Natural Areas & Parks, the OSU Astronomy Club, and Greenbelt Land Trust for a special evening at Fitton Green Natural Area where we’ll first enjoy a beautiful sunset overlooking Marys Peak, the highest point in the Coast Range. As the sky darkens and the stars appear, use provided telescopes to peer into the vast sky and learn about constellations. Feel free to bring your own telescopes, binoculars, and cameras. This event is free and family-friendly!

Natural Areas Celebration Week

Natural Areas Celebration Week has something for everyone!  Natural resource partners throughout the region join together during this week to highlight their projects and to celebrate the incredible resources in our backyard here in the mid-Valley. From walks to talks, open houses, local food and drinks, and more, you are sure to have a great time!

It’s Earth Day! Let’s get outside and explore nature through stories, the imagination, and play. We’ll learn about the birds, carnivores, and other species of wildlife that live at the Bald Hill Farm conservation area. Join Greenbelt Land Trust and Chintimini Wildlife Center for a kid-friendly outing where we’ll take a guided nature walk along the forested Mulkey Ridge trail in search of wildlife signs, enjoy a group story about Oregon’s wildlife (written by a local author), and make a wildlife-themed craft you can take home. There will also be special appearances by live Chintimini bird ambassadors!

This event is free and family-friendly. Although kids of all ages are welcome, this event is ideal for ages 4 to 8. Light snacks provided. Space is limited.

Owens Farm History & Nature Walk

Join Greenbelt Land Trust as we go back in time and explore the fascinating history of Owens Farm. We will discuss the Knotts-Owens family, their influence in Benton County, uses of the farm over time, and Greenbelt’s restoration efforts and vision for the landscape. This property is rich with cultural history and accessible by guided tours only. This is a free and family-friendly walk.
