‘Arthropods as Environmental Predictors’
Did you know that arthropods are used to detect changes in the environment … including everything from pollution to large-scale landscape change? Come hear from Melissa Scherr, Director of the Northwest Entomological Research Center, present on the fascinating life history, survival strategy, and sampling techniques designed to understand how arthropods respond to changes in our landscape. Learn about the common and rare arthropods present in the habitat and sub-habitats of the Willamette Valley, how we impact ecosystems on a much more fine scale, and which vital processes are impacted by landscape changes.
Presentation co-sponsored by Calapooia Watershed Council and Greenbelt Land Trust. Main Meeting Room, Albany Public Library.
