Stress Less – Think Like Nature!

Nature is powerful and profound, yet practical. When you Think Like Nature you can discover powerful and profound, yet practical, solutions to personal life challenges.

Those of us living in the “real world” — meaning most of us humans — are constantly bombarded with messages of consumerism, competition, and crises. It can leave us with cognitive dissonance and depression, anger and anxiety. It’s stressful!

Some of us escape the “real world” by spending time in Nature. When we’re there, we can let go a bit.  We might feel grounded and aligned, relaxed and refreshed. But then we have to go back to the “real world” and the stress comes rushing back.

Wouldn’t it be great if you could capture the feelings that you experience in Nature and bring them into the “real world”?  You can — by learning to Think Like Nature. In this 2-hour walking session, we’ll explore how Nature manages stress and then imagine how we might apply these strategies to manage stress in our own lives. Click here to register!

Led by Kendra Callahan, Greenbelt Land Trust, and  Denise DeLuca, owner of Wild Hazel and author of the book Re-Aligning with Nature, Ecological Thinking for Radical Innovation.

One Mile Walk at Evergreen

Nature explorers of all ages are invited to come out to join us for this second in a series of one mile walks with Greenbelt Land Trust. This event will be paced to be suitable for those new to hiking, families with children, or for those who enjoy a slower, more rambling pace. This time we will explore our Evergreen property just south of Philomath which has multiple vernal pools and wetland areas.  It is not usually open to the public, so this is a great chance to get to see a bit of this gorgeous location! We will traverse fairly flat, but uneven terrain with many soggy spots and ponds so wearing waterproof, rubber boots is a great idea. We will have a few to loan out at the beginning of the walk for those who need them.  Once we reach the the pools, participants can use dip nets and trays to get a look at the many aquatic insects and invertebrates that are a hidden, but fascinating part of these wet and wonderful ecosystems.  Registration in advance is required!

Earth Day Bird Walk at CBow Ridge

Celebrate Earth Day a few days early with a fun and relaxed outing to Greenbelt's newest conserved property, CBow Ridge in the Coburg Hills.  Whether you've never tried birdwatching or are an experienced "twitcher" you can enjoy this walk of 1-2 miles on gravel roads and through meadows, with some elevation up and down as we explore this diverse property.

We will have a spotting scope to share and a few pairs of binoculars to borrow. Our walk will be led by Caryn Stoess. Driving time from Corvallis to the meeting spot is about 45 minutes. Click here to register!

Earth Day Fence Removal at Santiam Kingston Hills

Join Greenbelt staff and fellow volunteers for an Earth Day work party removing un-needed fences at Santiam Kingston Hills on Saturday, April 20th, from 10 am to 2 pm. We will work to remove old wire and posts, opening up wildlife corridors and allowing for future property stewardship.
