DESCRIPTION:Mighty Acorns – come explore outdoors with us! \nWe hope you can join us for a morning of exploration and adventure!  This time we will learn about pollination and then we will plant native flowers in the fields at Bald Hill Farm. \nWe’ll start with a story and introduction to the process of pollination and then we will head out to help our local pollinators by planting native flowers in the fields at Bald Hill Farm. Then we will return to the farmhouse or pavilion to create paper flowers that you can take home. \nWhat and Where? Planting for Pollinators at Bald Hill Farm. Bathrooms are available at the beginning and end of the event. \nWhen? Saturday\, November 21\, 2026\, 10 am – 12 noon \nWho’s Invited? This is an exclusive event for Mighty Acorns and their families!  Not a member yet? Sign up to join the club HERE and we’ll have your welcome packet at this event! \nWhat to wear/bring? Dress for the weather! We will be walking out into the fields\, so long pants and closed-toed shoes is the way to go.  If it is wet\, keep in mind that we will likely be kneeling in the grass as we plant flowers.  Please bring a water bottle and snacks if you want. Also bring your curiosity! \nSpace is limited\, so you need to register in advance. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a festive day of crafting and volunteerism as we help protect the Oak Savanna habitat at Bald Hill Farm! Oak Savannas are a unique and essential ecosystem\, supporting diverse wildlife and plant species. We’ll start with some hands-on restoration work\, cutting and pulling Douglas fir trees that can shade out and weaken the oaks. Luckily\, while fir trees aren’t great for our oak savannas\, they are perfect for winter crafting. Once you’ve pulled your fill of fir\, join us for hot chocolate and a free wreath making class with Tarweed Folk School Instructor\, Margot Schwartz. All are welcome—no experience needed! \nWe will pull fir and make wreaths from 10am-2pm at Bald Hill Farm. You are welcome to arrive and leave at any time\, but please arrive by 1pm if you would like to finish a wreath before heading home. Register below to receive directions\, parking\, and other details a week before the event. \nAccessibility Notes: The fir-pull site is a restored oak savanna. We will hike off trail through dry medium-tall vegetation in search of firs to cut and pull. The majority of the oak savanna site is located along Mulkey ridge and will require a short hike on steep terrain to access. There is some poison oak at this location\, we will point it out to you so you can avoid it.
