SUMMARY:Twilight Tour at Horseshoe Lake
DESCRIPTION:Twilight Tour of Horseshoe Lake \nThursday\, August 27\, 2026 \n6 pm – 8 pm \nJoin us for a tour of Horseshoe Lake\, a 236 acre conservation easement property along the Willamette River located between Albany and Corvallis. This property is accessible only during tours such as these so don’t miss your chance to see this beautiful spot! \nPart of our tour will be led by Aleena Habib from the Pacific Northwest Bioacoustics lab who will share a bit about her work and lead us in a soundmapping activity as the sun goes down and the sounds of nature change along our route.  It is a soothing and fun activity that really allows time to notice and appreciate the sounds around us! \nWe will also see first hand the restoration work that has taken place at this property as we walk past prairie and floodplain forest.  Our walk will be an easy paced 2 hour ramble over flat ground for up to 1.5 miles.  Pre-registration is required and space is limited so sign up today.

SUMMARY:Mighty Acorns - Twilight Tour at Horseshoe
DESCRIPTION:Mighty Acorns – come explore outdoors with us! \nWe hope you can join us for an early evening of exploration and adventure!  This time we will learn about nocturnal animals with a focus on owls and bats!  We will also explore the trails and stop to listen to the sounds of nature and take time to notice what changes as the sun goes down. \nWe’ll start with a story and introduction to sounds and animals at night followed by a walk for about a mile along a mowed path at this lovely property that is adjacent to the Willamette River between Corvallis and Albany. After exploring\, we will make our own “paper airplane” flying bat to take home. \nWhat and Where? Explore nocturnal animals at Horseshoe Lake. Bathrooms are not available at this location\, so plan accordingly! \nWhen? Saturday\, August 22\, 2026\, 6 pm – 8 pm \nWho’s Invited? This is an exclusive event for Mighty Acorns and their families!  Not a member yet? Sign up to join the club HERE and we’ll have your welcome packet at this event! \nWhat to wear/bring? Dress for the weather! We will be walking on a mowed path in short grasses and vegetation along the edge of a prairie and in floodplain forest\, so long lightweight clothing and closed-toed shoes is the way to go. Please bring a water bottle and snacks if you want. Also bring your curiosity! \nSpace is limited for this walk\, so you need to register in advance. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

SUMMARY:Tarweed Awakening Corvallis: Prairie Walk at Bald Hill Farm
DESCRIPTION:Join us from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday\, August 21 for a botany focused walk through the prairies of Bald Hill Farm! \nGreenbelt Land Trust is thrilled to join this year’s Tarweed Awakening Corvallis festival with this walk focused on tarweed and the prairie ecosystem it depends on to thrive. Tarweed Awakening Corvallis is a multi-day community event that celebrates and shares the cultural and ecological significance of tarweed (asawal)\, a critical First Food of the Ampinefu Kalapuya. \nThe walk will be led by Greenbelt staff and members of the Mid Willamette Prescribed Burn Association. We’ll spend the evening exploring Bald Hill Farm’s newly restored prairies\, learning about tarweed and other native prairie plants\, and discussing the importance of fire for valley ecosystems. \nAccessibility: The walk will cover approximately one mile on uneven mowed paths through the prairie. Participants should expect uneven ground and should plan to wear sturdy shoes\, and dress for the weather. \n  \nCan’t get enough Tarweed? Partners of the Tarweed Awakening Corvallis Festival will be hosting events and activities all weekend. Keep an eye out for more events\, from the OSU Indigenous Studies Program\, Corvallis Sustainability Coalition\, Corvallis Museum\, Tarweed Folk School\, Wild Yeast Bakery\, and Benton County Historical Society.

SUMMARY:Pollinators and Wildflowers - Family Day at Bald Hill Farm
DESCRIPTION:Want to help butterflies and bees? Join us for a family day of learning and exploring at Bald Hill Farm on Saturday\, May 11th\, from 10am-1pm! \nLearn how we protect bee and butterfly species and stroll through our restored meadows to find blooming wildflowers and pollinators at work! We’ll have fun pollinator education activities for kids aged K-5th grade and then we’ll head out for a walk at one of our restored prairies along our butterfly flyway at the farm. \nOur educational activities will be geared to K-5th grade but younger and older family members are welcome as well! Minors must be accompanied by an adult. \nIf you are only able to attend for part of the time\, you’re still welcome to join us\, just send an email to kendra@greenbeltlandtrust.org to discuss. \nWear: Plan to dress for the weather with layers and rain gear if needed. We are hoping for a nice sunny spring day – but we will hold the event rain or shine! The ground is fairly flat\, but uneven on our walk out and in the prairie\, so wearing sturdy shoes is recommended. \nBring: Please bring a water bottle that you can carry out on our walk. Some snacks will be provided. The event will run from 10am – 1pm and if you would like to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy afterwards\, you are welcome to do so! \nAccessibility notes: We will play games and learn about pollinators in an indoor/outdoor space and will then hike about a half mile on a gravel road to reach the restored prairie. You should expect to be kneeling and bending over as we look at wildflowers and observe some pollinators in action. Restrooms will be available at the start of the day\, but there are no restrooms at the planting location. \nLocation: We will be meeting at Bald Hill Farm on part of the property that is typically closed to the public. Directions to the meeting location will be provided the week before the event for all registered families.

SUMMARY:One Mile Walk at Evergreen
