SUMMARY:Willamette Daisy Planting at Kingston Prairie
DESCRIPTION:Want to help an endangered species? Join Greenbelt and Institute for Applied Ecology staff and fellow volunteers for a work party planting Willamette Daisy (Erigeron decumbens) at Kingston Prairie on Thursday\, December 4th\, from 10 am to 2 pm. \nWillamette Daisy is an endangered daisy species present only within the Willamette valley. Willamette Daisy populations have been in decline due to loss of prairie habitat and competition from invasive plant species. IAE and Greenbelt both work to restore prairie habitat and Willamette daisy populations at multiple sites in the Willamette Valley and we’re excited to bring volunteers out for this joint event. \nNo previous experience is necessary and planters of all ages are welcome! Tools and gloves will be provided. If you are only able to attend for part of the time\, you’re still welcome to join us\, just send an email to jean@greenbeltlandtrust.org to discuss. \nWear: Plan to dress for the weather with layers and rain gear. The ground will likely be soggy in the planting area\, so waterproof shoes are recommended! \nBring: Lunch\, a water bottle\, and any emergency medications you usually bring on outdoor excursions for personal use (like Epi-Pens). Some snacks will be provided. \nAccessibility notes: We will about a half mile off-trail over uneven ground to reach the planting site. You should expect to be kneeling and bending over throughout the event. There are no restroom located at Kingston Prairie. \nNotes for youth planters: Planters of all ages are welcome but youth under the age of 14 must attend with an adult. Youth volunteers attending without their parent/guardian should contact our volunteer coordinator\, Jean\, to fill out a youth waiver before the event. \nLocation: Kingston Prairie Preserve near Stayton\, about 1 hours drive north of Corvallis. Directions to the meeting location will be provided a few days before the event.

Join us on Thursday\, April 24th\, from 12-2 pm at Bald Hill Farm for an inside look at the work we are doing with the US Fish and Wildlife Service and Institute for Applied Ecology to re-introduce Taylor’s Checkerspot Butterflies and provide the prairie plants they need in restoration areas. We will talk to project staff\, see how the re-introduction work is done\, and hopefully see some butterflies. Binoculars available to borrow or bring your own. \nWe will walk for up to 1.5 miles on gravel roads with some moderate and short elevation gain\, and over uneven prairie ground. Bathrooms available at the beginning and end of the walk. Please dress for the weather and leave your pets at home. \nRegistration is required. SUMMARY:Plant a Tree Volunteer Day
DESCRIPTION:  \n  \n  \n  \nBe a conservation hero! Volunteer to help plant native trees and shrubs at Bald Hill Farm. Plant for the health of our community\, enhance migratory bird habitat\, and support youth in the cross-cultural Willamette River – Rio Laja Mexico education partnership. Your participation alone will allow Rio Laja Mexico students to receive a $1\,000 donation to support their environmental education exchange with Corvallis students. \nJoin Marys River Watershed Council\, Institute for Applied Ecology\, and Greenbelt Land Trust at Bald Hill Farm on Friday\, September 28th from 3 – 6 pm. This is an “open house” format so you can come to plant during all or part of this time. \nHelp Our Youth: \nYour help as a volunteer will help us raise the necessary funds for students in Mexico to be able to participate in this cross-cultural environmental education exchange! One Tree Planted\, a non-profit organization that supports native tree planting\, will donate $1\,000 for this Plant a Tree Day event. Marys River Watershed Council\, Institute Applied Ecology\, and Greenbelt will donate these funds to our Rio Laja Mexico education partners.  Students from Corvallis public schools will be at Bald Hill Farm this school year to learn about and enhance habitat for migratory birds that spend time in both the Willamette and Laja River Basins.  These outdoor field days will be offered in both Spanish and English. \nRegistration: \nTo sign up\, please fill out the short form below. \nQuestions? Email jessica@greenbeltlandtrust.org or call the GLT office at (541) 752.9609. Additional details will be emailed upon registering.
