Student Board Application

The Greenbelt Land Trust Board of Directors is responsible for providing strategic guidance and oversight for the organization.  This includes working with staff on formulating its mission, helping to develop the overall direction of the work, and ensuring that the finances, operations, and policies of the organization are well managed.  Board members work together during monthly board meetings and on individual committees to get this done.

The Board has a position reserved for a student member (undergraduate or graduate level).  We are looking for an individual with a passion for Greenbelt’s mission and goals who can bring to the organization the perspective and insight relative to their field of study and academic experience. The term for this position is the academic year (September – June) and requires a commitment of about 6-8 hours/month.  Student board members serve a one year term and can be renewed for a second year. Student board members have the same voting rights and responsibilities as all other board seats.

This an opportunity for a student to learn about how nonprofits work and gain experience in a leadership position within your community.  Student board members are provided with a full orientation to the organization, the board role and will work with a board mentor throughout their term.

The Board is a fun, active and engaged group of thought-leaders, all helping to move conservation forward in our community!
