City Nature Challenge Bio Blitz at Bald Hill Farm
Corvallis and Benton County are taking part in the worldwide City Nature Challenge, and you can be a part of one of the largest community science events ever!
From April 24th- 27th, take photos of wild plants and animals and upload your observations on the free iNaturalist app or website. Every observation made in Benton County during that time will be a part of the challenge. From April 28th – May 10th, you can continue to upload observations as scientists and other iNaturalist users around the world help identify what you saw.
Greenbelt Land Trust is hosting a Bio-blitz at Bald Hill Farm on Friday, April 24th, from 4 – 7 pm. You can arrive anytime after 4 pm. Absolute beginners and iNaturalist power-users are all invited! If you are new to iNaturalist, we will start with a demonstration of this easy-to-use app, and get you started on making observations. Everyone will get access to parts of Bald Hill Farm that are not open to the public to wander, explore, and discover as many plant and animal species as you can.
We will be set up with laptops at the end of the evening to look at your observations and help you with identifications. Great for all ages and abilities – take the City Nature Challenge with us!
More information will be shared with participants before the event to get you all set to go with iNaturalist.
