National Trails Day – Volunteer Trail Cleanup at Bald Hill Farm

June 3, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Join Greenbelt staff and fellow volunteers to celebrate National Trails Day and give back to the trails at Bald Hill Farm! Help us open up overgrown trails on Saturday, June 3rd, from 10 am to 2 pm. We will work to remove brush, logs, and grass that are encroaching on the trail and make sure the trails are in great shape for Run for the Hills the following day.

Wear: Plan to dress for the weather with layers and rain gear or sun protection as needed. We will hike up to 4 miles on gravel and dirt trails as we work, so sturdy closed toed shoes are required.

Bring: Tools and gloves are provided. We will take a lunch break around noon, please bring a lunch and a water bottle with you (some snacks will be provided). You should also bring any emergency medications you usually carry on outdoor excursions for personal use (like an Epi-Pen).

Accessibility notes: No previous experience is necessary. We will hike up to 4 miles on trail and use hand tools as we work. Please be aware, there is poison oak present along the Mulkey Ridge Trail, we will identify it as a group and avoid it as we are working. Restrooms will be available at the beginning and end of the work party.

Location: We will be working on the Mulkey Ridge Trails at Bald Hill Farm. Directions to the exact meeting location will be provided the week before the event. If you are only able to attend for part of the time, you’re still welcome to join us, just send an email to jean@greenbeltlandtrust.org to discuss.

Sign up below to volunteer and join us in celebrating National Trails Day!
