Planting for Pollinators Family Day
We will have lots of hands-on activities to learn about our native pollinators including bees, butterflies, birds! Join us to build a bee, dissect a flower, take our pollinator quiz challenge, learn about the role of pollinators in our ecosystems, find out ways you can support pollinators in your own yards, look at the scales of a butterfly under a digital microscope, and more! The first half of the day will be a free rotation through activities. Then, we will head out to a nearby restored prairie where we will get our hands dirty planting a variety of wildflowers and bulbs. These flowers will bloom next spring providing nectar sources for pollinators in the butterfly flyway of the property. All tools will be supplied, and no experience is necessary! We hope you can come out to this second annual free STEAM celebration event on the OSU Campus at PRAx in Corvallis. Greenbelt Land Trust will be there along with lots of other community partners promoting and celebrating all thing science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics! At our activity table we will be focusing on native bees, butterflies, and moths. We hope you can stop by to see us and take a closer look at these critical pollinators and learn about our restoration efforts that support them!
