Mighty Acorns – Lichens at Luckiamute Meadows

Mighty Acorns - come explore outdoors with us!
We hope you can join us for another fun day of exploration and adventure! This time we will learn all about the lovely lichens that grow in our Pacific Northwest forests. After an introduction to lichens, we will head out along a beautiful trail that follows Maxfield Creek at Luckiamute Meadows in Kings Valley to find as many lichens as we can. We will search high and low on the trunks, branches and twigs of the many trees along our walk. Afterwards we will head back to make lichen stick figures using moss, lichen and sticks collected from the forest floor.
What and Where? Explore lichens at Luckiamute Meadows. Bathrooms available at Kings Valley Community Hall. Note that it takes approximately 30 minutes to drive to this location from downtown Corvallis.
When? Saturday, March 14, 2026, 10 am - 12 noon
