CBow Ridge Volunteer Work Party

August 31 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Join Greenbelt staff and fellow volunteers for a work party to remove unneeded fences at CBow Ridge. CBow is one of our newest conserved properties, and we can’t wait to open up wildlife corridors by ripping out old fence!

No previous experience is necessary and fence removers of all ages are welcome! Tools and gloves will be provided. If you are only able to attend for part of the time, you’re still welcome to join us, just send an email to jean@greenbeltlandtrust.org to discuss.

Wear: The weather is likely to be hot. Plan to dress in light layers, we will be working with barbed wire so closed toed shoes, long pants, and long sleeves are required.

Bring: Lunch, a water bottle, and any emergency medications you usually bring on outdoor excursions for personal use (like Epi-Pens). Some snacks will be provided.

Accessibility notes: You can expect about a mile of hiking on a gravel road with medium elevation gain as we work. No previous experience is necessary. We will use hand tools to cut and pull fencing, and will roll barbed wire by hand. There are no restrooms on site but there is forested private space near the work site.

Notes for youth volunteers: Volunteers of all ages are welcome but youth under the age of 14 must attend with an adult. Youth volunteers attending without their parent/guardian should contact our Volunteer Manager, Jean, to fill out a youth waiver before the event.

Location: We will be working CBow Ridge just north of Coburg in Lane County, about an hours drive south of Corvallis. Full directions, instructions, and information on how to carpool will be sent to participants a few days before the event.
