Citizen Science Day: Turkey Monitoring

February 11, 2017 @ 9:30 am - 12:30 pm

Benjamin Franklin called the turkey a “Bird of Courage” and wanted it, not the bald eagle, to be our national bird and emblem.  But did you know that turkeys are an introduced species in Oregon?  Greenbelt is monitoring turkeys at Bald Hill Farm to see if their numbers may impact native and rare plant species. And we need your help to do it! Join us for a morning of counting turkeys, contributing to local citizen science, and exploring parts of this special conservation area not publically accessible. Experience surveying birds or wildlife is beneficial but not required.

Note: This opportunity is subject to be rescheduled due to inclement weather since turkeys will not be as active in heavy rain or snow.
