Volunteer Scotch Broom Pull for Earth Day

Celebrate Earth Day at Kingston Prairie! We have some fun exploration walks planned for the morning, but if your idea of celebrating Earth Day is ripping up invasive species then join us from 12pm – 2pm for a work party for our Mother. We will use weed wrenches and biceps to pull scotch broom from the prairie (biceps of any size are encouraged to attend!)
No experience needed, tools, gloves, and some snacks will be provided. Sign up below if you want to join in on for just the volunteer part of the day (if you want to attend a walk make sure you are registered for it, they are likely to fill up.) We can’t wait to celebrate the earth with you!
WHERE: Kingston Prairie is near Stayton, directions will be provided the week before the event.
WHAT TO EXPECT: We will walk up to 1 mile off trail over uneven ground while we search for scotch broom. We will use weed wrenches to pull small plants, and saws to cut out the larger plants. There are no restrooms at Kingston Prairie, but there is a private forested area a 1/4 mile walk from the work site.
NOTES FOR YOUTH VOLUNTEERS: Volunteers of all ages are welcome but youth under the age of 14 must attend with an adult. Youth volunteers attending without their parent/guardian should contact our Volunteer Manager, Jean, to confirm registration.
