Nature explorers of all ages are invited to join us for this second in a series of one mile walks with Greenbelt Land Trust. This event will be paced to be suitable for those new to hiking, families with children, or for those who enjoy a slower, more rambling pace. This time we will explore our Evergreen property just south of Philomath which has multiple vernal pools and wetland areas. It is not usually open to the public, so this is a great chance to get to see a bit of this gorgeous location! We will traverse fairly flat, but uneven terrain with many soggy spots and ponds so wearing waterproof, rubber boots is a great idea. We will have a few to loan out at the beginning of the walk for those who need them. Once we reach the the pools, participants can use dip nets and trays to get a look at the many aquatic insects and invertebrates that are a hidden, but fascinating part of these wet and wonderful ecosystems.
