Ornithologist Bob Altman has been working with Greenbelt Land Trust since 2017 to research Oregon Vesper Sparrows at Bald Hill Farm and other Greenbelt sites. Oregon Vesper Sparrows use grassland habitats like the pastures and prairies of Bald Hill Farm, and their numbers are in decline due to lack of suitable habitat.
Bob and Greenbelt Land Trust Wildlife Technician Lisa Millbank will lead an informative talk about the sparrow, current research, and how we are working to provide the habitat it needs at Bald Hill Farm, and then we’ll take a walk to see what we are doing and hopefully, see some birds as well!
We will walk for up to 1 mile on gravel roads and through prairie with some uneven ground. Restrooms available at the beginning and end of the program.
