Superb Owl IV
Are you ready for some birding?!
It's Superb Owl IV, Greenbelt's annual bird walk on the morning of the Superbowl!
Seahawks, Ravens, Falcons, Eagles - will we find them all - or maybe even a Superb Owl?
Join us for a pre-Superbowl morning bird walk on Sunday, February 8th, led by local expert birder Caryn Stoess. We will tour Little Willamette, a conservation easement property in Albany, at a leisurely pace, visiting floodplain, pond, forest, wetland and prairie habitats to see and hear the avian residents and visitors. No experience necessary, spotting scopes and binoculars available to borrow.
Per tradition, there will be prizes for the first person to see or hear an NFL mascot and a grand prize for a Superb Owl! Will this be the year we find a Superb Owl?
We will walk for up to 2 miles on mostly flat terrain. Some areas may be wet, so be prepared for whatever the weather brings and for soggy ground.
No bathroom facilities available, just wherever you feel comfortable. Details including directions will be sent the week before the event.
Space is limited. Please make a separate registration entry for each person.

Come out to join Greenbelt Land Trust's Events and Education Coordinator, Kendra Callahan, at Owens Farm for a leisurely walk under the oaks and out in the fields of this lovely property. We will move at a slow pace and take time to stop, look, and listen and soak up the beauty of our surroundings. Our focus will be on the many amazing adaptations of the Oregon White Oak, why it is important in our Willamette Valley, and why it is considered a keystone species in this region.
